Should Ilhan Omar Be Blamed For Jewish Cemetery Vandalism?

At Hebrew Cemetery in Fall River, Massachusetts, dozens of gravestones were defaced on Sunday. This comes after weeks of Ilhan Omar’s display of antisemitism which the Democrats have refused to condemn. According to the herald news:

“Dozens of gravestones were tagged with the anti-Semitic graffiti, apparently scrawled in black marker. About 10 gravestones were defaced with swastikas. On one gravestone was written the words “heil Hitler,” and on another, “Hitler was right.””

First of all, vandalizing a gravestone is disrespectful to both the dead and their families. But this particular case is one that demonstrates antisemitism at its peak, and it is absolutely disgusting. At a time when Democrats have become the party of hate and discrimination against Jews, it bothers me that something like this would happen with little to no media coverage.

The perpetrators of this act also tried to make a connection to the president. One of the gravestones was defaced with the words, “Oy vey! This is MAGA country.” This immediately reminds us of Jussie Smollett and his fake hate crime attack. However, I am not insinuating that the Jewish community in Massachusetts did this to themselves. This is clearly the work of some anti-Semites who are trying to paint the president in a bad light.

Still, it is worth asking if Ilhan Omar should be blamed for these attacks on the Jewish community. Last week, when some Muslims were killed in New Zealand, some Democrats foolishly blamed Donald Trump. Even Amy Klobuchar, who is currently dreaming of becoming president, said that Trump’s rhetoric was a motivating factor in the attack. By that same reasoning, it makes sense that Ilhan Omar should be blamed for this attack on the Jewish cemetery.

In any case, we hope that antisemitism of all forms would stop, and we hope the culprits of this attack would be brought to justice.
