Not that this is surprising, but some liberals have expressed anger over the new abortion law in Arkansas. This past week, the Republican governor, Asa Hutchinson signed a measure which would ban abortions in the state after 18 weeks. The measure provides an exception for incest, rape and life-threatening medical conditions.
To anyone who gives a damn about human life, this new law in Arkansas should be good news. In fact, most of us would agree that 18 weeks is too much time to allow a woman to have an abortion — can it be reduced to 6 weeks or 0 weeks? In any case, liberals have vowed to challenge the law in court.
The American Civil Liberties Union of Arkansas, ACLU, was particularly bitter about the new law. The executive director of the organization, Rita Sklar said the new law is “dangerously extreme attack on abortion access and another heavy-handed government intrusion into a woman’s personal medical decisions.”
In other words, the ACLU believes that banning abortion is an intrusion by the government into a woman’s decision making ability. But the same ACLU wants Planned Parenthood to be funded and fully operational. If they believe the government should have no say in abortions, then why should the government provide money for abortions?
The ACLU of Kentucky is already actively blocking the heartbeat law that was signed last week. They are already succeeding, considering a federal Judge has put a temporary restraining order on the enforcement of the new law. ACLU attorney Brigitte Amiri said:
“This onslaught of bans on abortion that fly in the face of Roe v. Wade are designed specifically for the purposes of trying to get the Supreme Court to reconsider Roe.”
I actually agree with those words. It is high time the abortion case went to the Supreme Court for another consideration. Thanks to Donald Trump, there are two additional conservative Judges: Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh. It has been 46 years since Roe V Wade was passed, and perhaps it’s time for a major review.
We should not allow liberals, who ironically dismiss Science, to continue their murder of innocent children. But if the abortion laws in this country must remain as is, then the government should provide 0 dollars towards any service that provides abortions.
