Jussie Smollett has been indicted by a grand Jury for 16 separate felony counts. The grand Jury accused Smollett for lying to the police and faking a hate crime. Sources say that each count carries a possibility of probation or 1 to 3 years behind bars.
We haven’t been able to get a comment from Smollett or his representatives. But a former statement from his attorney said he “enjoys the presumption of innocence, particularly when there has been an investigation like this one where information, both true and false, has been repeatedly leaked.” But now that he has been officially charged by the grand jury, we hope the judiciary would do the needful and send him to jail.
Smollett was indicted for the lies he told in January about a hate crime that never happened. Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie T. Johnson claimed that Smollett was unhappy with his salary, so he sent himself a letter containing racist language, and when that did not work, he paid $3,500 to orchestrate the attack.
As the story develops, we wait for the reaction from the Left. Just yesterday, ex-Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort was sentenced to prison for 47 months, and since the news broke, Democrats/Liberals have lost their minds. They have complained that the prison sentence was too short. But let’s wait and see if they would give the same sentiments to Smollett should he not be sent to prison.
